Improving Ad Relevancy: Content Optimization

Optimizing your webpage for showing only relevant ads is important in maximizing the Adsense performance on your site. It is well known that the ads that are closely related to the content of the webpage have a greater chance of being clicked, thus improving your overall CTR. Assuming that there is a pool of ads in Google's database for the topic of your webpage, there are a few things you can do tell Google what your page is about, so that, the ads that are served are highly targeted. Include the primary keywords of the page content in your page title

Include the primary keywords of the page content in H1 tags on the page, supplimented H2 tags
Put the primary key words in Bold or Italic tags a couple of times in your page content
A link to your home page with the keyword anchor text
Make sure in include your primary keywords in your webpage filename also (if possible)

In addition to the above Google "Section Targeting", to explicitly inform the GoogleBot about the primary content sections of your page.
